PeakAmp capitalizing the future trends: India is seeing rapid growth in electric vehicles (EVs), smartphones, and renewable energy systems. But with this progress comes a big challenge—what to do with all the used batteries? Every year, millions of lithium-ion batteries reach the end of their life. If not handled properly, they can harm the environment and create serious waste management problems.
To address this challenge, PeakAmp, a 2024 cleantech startup by Vijay Gond and Aditya Sudhanshu, has come forward with a definitive mission: establishing India’s first end-to-end solution for lithium-ion recycling and second-life reuse.
Fresh Capital to Speed Up Growth
Recently, PeakAmp has raised ₹12 crore of seed funding, led by Caret Capital with involvement from IIM Ahmedabad Ventures, Basant Sharma and Group, and other strategic investors. This will power its strategy to expand collection networks, enhance battery recycling technology, and make the battery diagnostics and material recovery system more efficient.
Closing the Loop with a Circular Economy
What distinguishes PeakAmp is its business model, which is based on the circular economy. The firm has its hand in every step of the lithium-ion battery lifecycle:
Collection & Reverse Logistics – safely transporting end-of-life EV and electronics batteries to the point of reuse or recycling.
Diagnostics & Second-Life Use – analyzing cell health and redirecting viable batteries to energy storage and other uses.
Recycling & Material Recovery – recovering high-purity lithium, nickel, copper, and other metals to be reused in new batteries.
This strategy not only minimizes poisonous e-waste but also assists India in reducing its dependence on foreign raw material imports, reinforcing domestic EV battery supply chains.
Industry Validation Through Pilots
PeakAmp has already commissioned pilots with some of the large players in India’s industry, demonstrating its capability to manage battery waste safely and in volume. Pilots focus on its safety, traceability, and compliance, which are essential requirements for companies looking to achieve sustainability goals.
Why Recycling Matters for India
As EV adoption grows exponentially, India may struggle with a huge battery waste problem in the next decade. Recycling and reuse are the only viable options for sustainable growth. “Battery recycling will play an important role in reducing import dependence and creating a resilient domestic battery ecosystem,” said Karan Mittal, Managing Partner at Caret Capital.
Looking Ahead
With this new capital shot, PeakAmp will solidify its battery recycling footprint in India, improve material recovery tech, and deepen its penetration across industries. Its vision exceeds the bottom line—its commitment to transforming India into a cleaner, independent future in clean energy.
By extending the life of batteries and recovering valuable resources, PeakAmp demonstrates that innovation, sustainability, and business success can walk side by side
